Food waste with a differenceAt some point in the last 20 years, the world started producing more food than it could sell or eat and starting binning huge amounts. Laws became tighter and tighter about what we could use and when and shops began ordering huge amounts of produce, far more than could ever be sold - so more and more got thrown away.
Food waste is a huge problem, we throw away a third of all food produced in the world while people are hungry and queues for Foodbanks are getting longer. The Real junk Food Project helps close the loop and keep food in bellies not landfill.

We are based just outside Liskeard, Cornwall, we currently function as a pop up cafe and catering service providing meals prepared from intercepted food.
|
Make a difference By engaging with the intercepted food movement you are actively changing the system and choosing to make changes - help be part of something big

All food has valueFood has a value and so do you. Food isn't free, its been grown, produced, slaughtered, packaged, transported and cooked. This process uses energy, time, growing space amongst other resources
|
Pay as you feelYour contribution is important - whether you can give time, money, contributions - it all helps because you all matter. Never think that a small amount is not needed - every penny counts.
|
Feed bellies not binsWe rescue food from shops, local growers, private donations and anywhere else we can get it. This is all food deemed unfit for human consumption. We don't agree, this is tons and tons of wasted food which is perfectly edible.

Who are the real junk food project? The first Real Junk Food Project was created by Adam Smith in 2012 after witnessing a similar Project in Australia - he started in Leeds and its spread all over the UK and now branching out to Europe and further. The project is growing by the week with more and more springing up and making people aware about how massive this problem really is
